MISSIONS
2011: Peru
Cusco/Machu Picchu
June 11th (Sat) - June 18th (Sat)
This mission is designed to bring medical/dental care to remote communities near Cusco, Peru. Physicians, dentists and support personnel needed. We will be focusing on communities that are off the tourist trail. Our ‘home base’ will be the quiet, unimposing town of Huaracondo. This town of 3000+ has unique Inca ruins and is about 1 hour from Cusco. From Huarocondo we will go out to other communities.
We have set up this mission so that you will arrive early in the morning in Cusco and have a chance to see a bit of the world renowned Plaza de Armas. After a quick breakfast, and before attitude sickness, we will drive to Huarocondo.
You will stay Sunday, Monday, Tuesday nights in Huarocondo, working in clinics Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. At the end of your clinic day Wednesday, you will go back to Cusco, where the altitude should no longer affect you. You will stay at a very nice 3 star hotel near the plaza. You will visit Machu Picchu on Thursday. Friday is a free day to explore Cusco. Your flights home are Saturday morning.
Donation
for the Mission is $1985 (Please see the itinerary
for all that is covered).
